Being a natural material, it breathes, making it comfortable for birds that come to feed. Different kinds of wood provide a wide variety of color, thickness and durability. It is a material that is easy to work with; you can even make your own based on simple patterns. It is best left unpainted to protect the birds from harmful chemicals. But if you feel the urge to beautify your wooden bird house, use non-toxic paints and limit it to the outside part of the birdhouse.
