stepping stones

A trail or a path can make a garden look more attractive and welcoming. It seems to invite guests to come closer, enter and explore. Kids also enjoy skipping on a neatly-placed pathway, in anticipation of reaching its end.

Round stepping stones spaced neatly apart make a wonderful garden pathway. They are simple yet durable and can be plain or festooned with symbols, names or designs. Nicknames of family members including much-loved pets, for example, can be imprinted on each stone for a personalized feel. Trees, flowers, leaves and houses are also apt designs for this purpose. Similarly, stepping stones may be adorned with letters to spell a word like “Welcome.” When the ground is wet and muddy, stepping stones are also appreciated because they keep shoes and feet dry.
