Garden furniture should be sturdy and stand years of use outdoors. Among the best woods is teak, a close-grained hardwood that is naturally high in oil and rubber contents. It is highly resistant to rotting and other effects of sun, rain, frost, snow or insects. It has a smooth surface and appearance. Thus, teak is the ideal timber for making outdoor furniture.

A teak chair, table or bench is low maintenance. Weathered, it will take on a beautiful silver gray color. You just occasionally have to clean your teak to remove dirt or bird droppings. There is really no rigorous maintenance required to prolong the life of teak furniture.
