They can get water from the food that they eat but they need water more for maintaining their feathers. A place to bathe will be a welcome treat for them.
Birds will be happy with any puddle of water. If you have a pond in your garden, they will be happy to do some splashing over there. Treat them with a pleasant experience. Install a pond heater and the birds will enjoy a bath even on chilly days. A pond heater will ensure that ice does not form on the surface and that the water will stay warm and comfortable.
