A typical American household uses 350 gallons of water each day. About half of that is used indoors. Unnecessary water usage comes in the form of leaks. Another form of water waste is through irresponsible water use. Many people neglect to turn off the tap while they are washing their face or brushing their teeth. Others use the toilet to flush trash like cigarette butts.
There are many ways to conserve water. Fixing leaky faucets and toilets is a quick and easy way to do that. A steady faucet drip can waste 20 gallons of water a day. Leaky toilets waste upward of 100 gallons a day. Another way to save water is by choosing water fixtures like a stone water fountain that recycles its water.
