drive through gates

It’s a happy feeling that we always get when we come back to my grandparents’ ranch every summer. We would always race through the drive through gates to open them, letting in my grandpa’s truck or the horses and cattle. We didn’t mind waking early to help feed the animals as we enjoyed them. Every year there was always a new addition to the farm, and we would all gather around them as our uncles explained to us where they came from.

A part of the ranch was converted into a farm, and we always retreated to the shade the trees offered during hot afternoons. When the trees finally bore fruit, my grandparents would send us some, shipping them to our home if we can’t come down to the ranch. Hopefully I get to spend a Christmas at the farm for a change; it’ll be nice to take a walk around when the weather gets cooler.
