renewable energy

The race to be able to produce sustainable energy is on. Wikipidea defines renewable energy as energy generated from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat–which are renewable or are naturally replenished. So far, only a small portion of energy consumption comes from these resources. The objective of environmentalists is to bring the numbers up so that we can say that we are moving towards a carbon free environment. Then can we only say that we are on our way to winning the race.

Offhand, I can mention a few things we can do to help this cause. Make the most of natural lighting whenever possible. Turning on a light during the day becomes unnecessary when the sun is out. Draw open the curtains and let the sunshine in. If you have to use artificial lighting, use energy efficient compact fluorescent and LED lighting in spaces that require lighting. And don’t forget to paint your walls and ceilings with light colors to reflect as much light as possible
