Today, unless there is power failure, candles have very limited use as a functional item. But it has great aesthetic value. Decorative candles are all over. Hobbyists have taken up the craft and have come up with extraordinary and unique designs. They come in attractive colors, varied shapes and are decorated with natural materials.

A decorative candle comes hand in hand with a decorative candleholder. These can be made from raw wood for a rustic look, or smooth sanded hardwood for an elegant look. Ceramic and glass are common materials that are being fashioned into candleholders. These materials have the advantage of resisting heat, which makes them appropriate as a candle holder. Ceramic is especially beautiful when glazed.
