Meditation is a mental discipline where one goes into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. It is recognized as an alternative therapy as a form of mind-body medicine. It helps lower blood pressure, improves breathing for people with asthma, and relieves insomnia. Some people go to meditation centers to relieve themselves of the stresses of everyday life. But you can easily create your own meditation space right in your own home.
Foremost to this is choosing a place that is quiet and free from distraction. This can be an extra room, a corner in the house, the balcony, attic or garden. You will also need a chair with a straight back or a floor mat. Meditation cushions or pillows can make seating more comfortable. Put aromatherapy candles or incense as they can help you relax better. You will also need a CD player or stereo for your meditation music.
