Before you try to transition your child from crib to a bigger bed, consider the middle of the road option. Use a toddler bed instead. This won’t be too overwhelming for your child as the size will be just right for his body.

Toddler beds come in various designs and colors. But before you choose that car or airplane-shaped bed, consider the following factors:

+~Would it be easy to find a comfortable toddler mattress that is a good fit for the bed?
~Does the bed have rails on the sides to keep your child rolling off at night?
~Is the bed sturdy enough and is in no danger of collapsing when your child jumps on it everyday?
~How much space do you have in your child’s room? Will it fit?
~Does your toddler approve of your choice? Remember that these little ones can already form their own opinions so make them part of the selection process
