When you own a bar, one of the most important things you should have is the proper set of barware. These should include glasses, shakers, mixers, knives, and other tools used by the bartender to prepare drinks. Pewter barware has become popular these days. It’s lightweight and inexpensive, and it has a sleek, metallic look that gives a sort of simple elegance to it. But pewter barware reacts easily to some of the liquids. This might cause the metal to tarnish.

It is important to know how to take care of these sets to spare you the cost of buying a new one. The metal reacts to acidic liquid like lemon juice. This should be promptly washed with soap and warm water. Avoid damaging or scratching the metal by using a soft cloth to dry it off. Make sure to dry the set thoroughly. Use a specialized polish to keep the pewter barware nice and shiny, and avoid exposing it to extremely high and low temperatures.
