Salads Stay Here

My mother does not know how to cook. She can’t cook to save her life. While I was growing up I would often see her mix fruit salad or vegetable salad. I often figured that was what she ate. I later realized she just liked making salads because she liked putting them on her favorite wood bowls.

My mom’s wood bowls came in all colors, and sizes. They were always in the centerpiece at our dinner table. The large wooden bowls would hold all the fresh greens when we would have a party. Her white wood bowls would hold all the fresh fruits. It was such a lovely sight to see brightly colored fruits set amidst an ivory colored bow.
