We can expect a different kind of knife to slice breads and pastries. It is called the bread knife. Usually longer but thinner than other knives the bread knife is also a fixture in the ordinary kitchen. It is a little different from the other knives in that the blades are serrated. The serrated blade will cut easily into soft loaf bread or the harder French bread.

Knives are necessary implements in any house. Being so, it is always a welcome housewarming gift. A starter set will be appreciated by newlyweds. When buying a knife, for personal use or as a gift, choose the best that you can afford. Check the material used. Inspect how the handle is attached to the blade. Careful examination will avoid accidents in the kitchen.
