amber glass lantern

In between the trees were picnic huts. One of the bigger huts had an amber glass lantern and chimes all around which gave out different musical sounds helped by the soft breeze passing through the hut. Sitting on a bench and leaning against an old post, I could see the expanse of green interspersed by flowering clumps of bushes. It looked like a secret garden with pathways of gravel leading to some hidden nook or corner. I wonder what awaits me if I follow this gravel path.

A lot of us who have lived in the city for so long have forgotten the joy of having a runaway garden. It is not at all the structured kind that we have in our front yards. Here the plants are left to grow where they choose. The nurturing is limited to a bit of pruning to maintain a clean look. I wonder why these plants are healthy even without constant watering. Why are they so different from city plants that wilt and die if left without water for just a few days?
