At present, almost all inanimate objects are powered by mechanical or electrical energy. These energies are starting to become scarce because of its high demands. Residential wind turbines collect kinetic energy from the wind and convert it to electric energy which can supply power to the whole hose. They are usually installed on top of tall towers to gain maximum performance. The system is automatic in a residential setup and no batteries are needed.
There are two kinds of residential wind turbines. First are the horizontal axis wind turbines, the most common, which have main rotor shaft and electrical generator at the top of a tower. Second are the vertical axis wind turbines, which have motor rotor shaft arranged in a vertical manner. This is now the fast growing segment because of their aesthetic designs, efficiency even in lower wind speeds and their ability to be mounted closer to the ground. Wind turbines have been popular for it helps save energy, thus help lower cost in the household.
