The use of solar energy is gaining more popularity and acceptance. Most people now look for ways to use solar energy to cut back on the use of fuel and electricity. For instance, a lot of hikers or campers use flexible solar panels to recharge cell phones, car batteries and even to provide power to secluded cabins. These flexible solar panels are popular for their portability and versatility. In addition, since these panels use renewable, sustainable power from the sun, they are helping protect the environment.
Solar panels were first used in the early 70s in calculators. Since then, the uses for solar panels have multiplied exponentially. It is most popular however to the people who live “off-grid” or in areas that are not within reach of power and telecommunication cables. Instead of paying exorbitant fees to have the electrical company build electric utility posts in their area, most off-grid dwellers prefer the use of solar panels. Moreover, with the proper maintenance and care, solar panels can last up to 30 years.
