Bake or heat food using the power of the sun. Make your own home-made solar powered oven using simple materials such as an old pizza box, aluminum foil and other off-the-shelf parts. A solar oven is very easy to make. It is also good to encourage your kids to help you make them for a great bonding activity.

Remember that it is important to paint the old pizza box black inside-out. Use tape to bind the box together. Line the top and bottom interior of the box with aluminum foil so it will reflect the power of the sun and direct it to the food inside the box. Cut a flap on top of the box and line the hole with transparent plastic to magnify the solar energy that is reflected by the foil.
